Get Ready for Thanksgiving!

The month of November comes fast and before you know it, it’s time to start carving the Thanksgiving turkey for all your guests.

If you are planning on having the traditional Thanksgiving turkey, there are many decisions that must be made well before the actual carving begins. Here are a few of the questions to answer to help you make your next decisions:

1. Do you want the traditional Barbie doll big-breasted turkey or do you want to go natural?
2. If you want the traditional Barbie-doll big-breasted turkey, will you choose a turkey that has had soy or other additives pumped into it for plumping?
3. If you would rather have a natural turkey, how will you distinguish a truly natural turkey from one that is not really natural?

The disadvantage of turkeys with soy added to them – or other additives – is that these ingredients really don’t add anything to your health. On the contrary, they are one more burden for the body to deal with. And as a diabetic, you really don’t need any additional detoxification steps taken by your body because they are an extra burden.

Your guests really don’t need them either. Trust that there will be enough additives in other foods like pumpkin pie and desserts, and even stuffing or some veggie combination. If you can choose natural, truly choose the natural.

This means a heritage turkey. Now these turkeys aren’t big breasted because they really do walk around on a turkey farm. Turkeys have a difficult time walking around if they have bigger breasts. It’s just not natural.

The heritage turkeys aren’t fed any foods to beef them up. They are naturally high in omega 3 fats – which the Barbie doll turkeys aren’t – and to you that means less inflammation, better brain focus and concentration, and stronger immunity.

The heritage turkeys are more expensive but you are only purchasing one turkey and can still get them between 18 and 20 pounds. The going rate is about $120 for a turkey like this.

That is a lot of money but the taste is exquisite. Not only that, but the feeling of well being you get after eating it is really something to experience. You will want to eat more turkey than you ever did in your life, as your body will direct you to do so with its natural wisdom.

Some turkeys on the market claim to be natural but they really aren’t. The way to determine this is to find out the genetic stock of the bird – is it traditional Barbie doll gene pool or not. If it is, it’s really not a natural turkey. The other way to do it is to consider what the bird was given to eat. If they fed the bird and the bird didn’t forage, it’s a Barbie doll turkey.
