How Can A Diabetic Boost Metabolism? Part 4
So back to the coffee issue. The best solution for diabetics is not to drink the coffee at all. Diabetics can be prone to acidosis and if coffee is going to contribute to the process, that’s not good. Why speed up the path to the grave?
The only coffee that I have found that is suitable is one called Organogold Coffee. This one has an added ingredient … Ganoderma lucidum, the Reishi mushroom. The herb added to it is an adaptogen which means it can help prevent the ups and downs that occur in the metabolism, thus helping the body adapt.
Another herb that contains caffeine derivatives is guarana. This one can be too strong for diabetics, though so I don’t recommend it.
But there are other herbs that stimulate the metabolism. These would be herbs that have the ability to affect fat metabolism, herbs that have the ability to lower blood sugar, and herbs that can clean out the colon.
Herbs that stimulate the metabolism by affecting fat breakdown include dandelion and fennel. It’s easy to obtain dandelion leaves at the grocery store these days. Even fresh fennel is available and can be cooked.
Herbs that lower blood sugar include bitter melon (small chunks of this cucumber-like vegetable can be added to wok dishes in small quantities), stevia (a small 1/4th inch by 1/4th inch piece of stevia leaf from the garden can sweeten up any recipe), and gymnema (now available in some places as wafers).
Thus, it’s relatively easy to make these simple nutritious changes to the diabetic diet and thereby increase the metabolism.
